FAMILY TECH AGREEMENT ===================== A short, plain-language agreement between a parent and a child or teen. Print, fill in together, sign, and post on the fridge. Names: Parent ____________________ Child ____________________ Date: _____________________________ Review again on: _______________ 1. THE PROMISE THAT MATTERS MOST If anything online ever makes you feel weird, scared, embarrassed, or trapped, you can come to me at any hour. You will NOT lose your phone as a punishment for telling me. We will fix it together. Parent initials: ______ Child initials: ______ 2. ACCOUNTS AND PASSWORDS [ ] Until age 16, the parent holds a copy of the password for every account the child uses. [ ] Two-factor authentication (authenticator app, not SMS) is on for every account that supports it. [ ] No new app gets installed without a 30-second conversation first. 3. PRIVACY DEFAULTS [ ] Social accounts are PRIVATE. [ ] Direct messages from strangers are OFF. [ ] Location sharing is OFF for everyone except family. [ ] "Last seen" / "active now" indicators are OFF. 4. GAMING [ ] Voice chat with strangers is OFF; on only for known friends. [ ] No saved payment method on any console or game account. [ ] "Free V-Bucks / Robux / skins" sites are ALWAYS scams. We do not click them, ever. 5. IMAGES AND THE INTERNET [ ] Once something is sent, it can travel anywhere. We treat every image we send as if it might be screenshotted. [ ] If someone asks for a picture — even a friend, even someone who "promises" — the answer is no, and we tell a parent. [ ] If something has already been sent and someone is making threats: do not pay, do not send more, screenshot everything, and tell a parent. See "If something already happened" sheet. 6. THE SCAM-OF-THE-WEEK HABIT Once a week, at dinner or in the car, we share one scam or one weird thing we saw online that week. No one gets in trouble for what they share. We're learning the pattern together. 7. WHAT THE PARENT PROMISES [ ] I will not snoop without cause or read messages in secret. [ ] I will not punish you for telling me hard things. [ ] I will keep my own accounts safe so I am someone you can come to for help. [ ] We will review this agreement every six months and update it as you grow.
